The Microfinance Centre for CEE and the NIS (MFC) is delighted to invite you to attend the 12th MFC Conference organized jointly with the Microfinance Development Fund (MDF) Serbia, that will take place from 25-27 May in Belgrade, Serbia. The MFC will be joined in hosting this event by responsAbility and Blue Orchard as the conference sponsors.
The MFC Conference - an opportunity to improve understanding
The economic crisis and dramatic developments in financial markets are severely affecting low-income households globally and in the Central and Eastern European and NIS Region. The crisis is also having an impact on MFIs: liquidity issues, losses caused by inflation and deteriorating portfolios to give just a few examples.
In Belgrade we hope to improve understanding of both current economic developments and their impact on society, as well as the condition of financial institutions that serve the poor. We also hope to discuss client protection issues and strategies and measures that will allow MFIs to weather the economic storms and respond to new internal and external challenges.
As in previous years, you will have plenty of networking opportunities and a chance of flavoring Serbian tradition and culture.
Belgrade: the party capital of Eastern Europe!
Begrade, the capital of Serbia, is one of the oldest cities in Europe, offering very vivid and rich historic, cultural attractions. It is also well-known for its outstanding night-life!
As a conference participant you will be invited to attend the Serbian Night on 26 May 2009 where you will have a chance to taste traditional Serbian cuisine and be entertained with Serbian music and dancing.
MFC members will be invited to the membership meeting that will take place on 25th May.

Your logo or corporate leaflet can be included in the conference materials, when you become a conference sponsor for as little as EUR 1 500. As a sponsor you can also have your own exhibit stand in the hotel and conference lobby.
How to make travel arrangements for Belgrade?
Travel arrangements to Belgrade should be made well in advance. Belgrade offers daily air connections to/from Vienna, Budapest and other convenient connections. Likewise, please find out well in advance if you need a visa to enter Serbia. Citizens of EU countries can enter Serbia without a visa. There is also an option for conference participants to buy a Serbian visa at Belgrade airport.
